Look for a Skater Development Seminar in Your Region

For a fun, motivational, and enjoyable learning experience! These seminars are open to any skater in the Region and are usually held during Christmas and March break. Skaters participate in both on ice and off-ice training sessions during the day-long seminars.  Each region determines the level of the seminar to be held in their region.

On Ice Sessions: Include stroking, jumps/ spins, field moves, creative exercises and choreography.

Off Ice Sessions: We stress the importance of proper warm ups, flexibility & stretching. Jump technique and  choreography may also be included.

Presenters: 3 or 4 of the coaches from the ‘Coaching Resource Team’ list below are asked to be the presenters for these seminars.

WO All Male Skater Seminar Series 2011 - Session 3 Wrapup

Seminar session #3 was held on June 14, 2011 in Aylmer. 57 male skaters and 16 coaches joined in the fun!

Kurt Browning was our guest coach and he made it fun both on and off the ice! What an inspiration to all the boys!

Dylan Moscovitch with Dustin shared some 'Krav Maga' Martial Arts with the boys. Self Defense skills and loud 'chanting' could be heard throughout the arena! Peter Aivaliotis continued with his fitness regime! Our boys must be getting fit and flexible!

WO Region Evaluation Days

This program is intended to capitalize on the training season for the Regional STARSkaters. The skater will perform skills in isolation which will include jumps, spins, step sequences and stroking. The skater will also perform their solo for an evaluation. Off-ice assessment will take place one skater at a time with their coach. The WO Skating Technical Director, John Briscoe, will be the evaluator.

Criteria for applicants:

1. Passed Junior Bronze Free Skate test or higher
2. Competing at the WO Boston Pizza STARSkate Championships
3. Not currently involved in the WO Development program
4. Coach must be able to attend with the skater
5. Must be selected by their home club to attend
